Karachi Roars for Gaza: Thousands March Against Israeli Aggression

In a powerful display of unity and compassion, Karachi’s streets turned into a sea of solidarity on Sunday as thousands of citizens rallied in support of the people of Gaza. Organized by two major religio-political parties — Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) — the marches echoed a nation’s grief and outrage over the relentless Israeli bombardment in Palestine.

A City United for Gaza

The demonstrations, held on Sharea Faisal and Sharah-e-Quaideen, drew in people from all walks of life. Lawyers, teachers, traders, doctors, women, and children stood shoulder to shoulder, waving Palestinian flags, holding anti-Israel placards, and raising their voices for justice. The turnout was not just massive — it was deeply emotional.

JI’s march, led by party chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, included symbolic installations like sculptures of deceased Palestinian children, reminding attendees of the heartbreaking human cost of this conflict. One entire track of Sharea Faisal was reserved for women and children, marking an inclusive and family-driven movement.

A Fiery Address to the Nation and the World

In his keynote speech, Hafiz Naeem condemned the global silence, especially the United Nations, for what he called “passing useless resolutions” while Israel, backed by the United States, continues to bomb innocent civilians.

He highlighted the death toll in Gaza, estimating it at around 70,000 — mostly women and children — and warned that Israel’s aggression could extend beyond Palestine if world leaders continue to remain passive.

“Karachi has once again proved that it represents the entire Muslim world,” Naeem declared passionately.

He called upon Pakistan’s leaders to stop using the economy as an excuse and take bold steps against Israel. He even quoted Pakistan’s founding vision: “Our soul is not for sale.”

April 22: A Nation to Shut Down in Protest

To escalate pressure and awareness, JI announced a nationwide shutter-down strike on April 22, encouraging Pakistanis to show their support for Gaza in both action and voice. Naeem also urged citizens to boycott Israeli-made goods and amplify the cause on social media.

JUI-F’s “Death to Israel” March

Simultaneously, JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman led a separate but equally charged protest on Sharah-e-Quaideen. Quoting Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s long-held stance that Israel is an illegitimate state.

“The Palestinian people are not alone. We are with them until the last drop of blood,” Fazl declared, vowing continued struggle against Israeli oppression.

A Message that Echoes Across Borders

The Karachi rallies followed similar protests across Pakistan, forming a nationwide wave of outrage against Israel’s brutal campaign, which has reportedly killed over 50,000 Palestinians and left many more missing under the rubble. Much of Gaza’s homes, schools, and hospitals lie in ruins.

With their chants, their banners, and their sheer presence, Karachiites sent a clear message: Gaza is not alone. The cries for justice, the call to action, and the commitment to humanity rang louder than ever.
