Fame Over Faith? The Silence of Fawad Khan & Hania Aamir While Muslims Face Blame and Hate

Art Has No Borders, But Conscience Should Have a Voice

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, where innocent lives were tragically lost, the Indian media quickly turned the narrative into yet another anti-Muslim campaign. Once again, Muslims were scapegoated. Communities were harassed, and social media was flooded with hate-filled rhetoric targeting an entire faith.

During such a crucial time, the silence of some of Pakistan’s most prominent celebrities — who currently enjoy the limelight due to cross-border film projects — has not gone unnoticed.

While Indian Muslims endure suspicion and targeted hostility, two of our own, Fawad Khan and Hania Aamir, chose not to say a single word.

Hania Aamir and Diljit Dosanjh: Smiles Onscreen, Silence Offscreen

Actress Hania Aamir is currently starring alongside Indian Punjabi icon Diljit Dosanjh in a much-publicized Indo-Pak film. Marketed as a feel-good, peace-promoting cinematic experience, the film hopes to celebrate “unity through art.”

But when real unity was needed — when Muslims in India were facing hate, fear, and unjust blame — Hania remained silent. There was no expression of concern, no solidarity, and not even the smallest gesture to acknowledge the situation.

In a time when silence enables hate, her refusal to speak up is not neutral — it is political.

Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor: Another Bollywood Comeback, Another Missed Opportunity

Fawad Khan, often praised for his elegance and intellect, is preparing for a highly anticipated Bollywood return with Vaani Kapoor. The excitement is clear — the film is getting media coverage across the region.

Yet, Fawad too has remained completely silent about the backlash against Muslims in India. Despite his influence and position as one of the few Pakistani stars to make it big in Bollywood, there has been no statement.

Not even a single sentence distancing Islam from terrorism. Not a single comment on the disturbing narrative targeting Muslims in India.

When Silence Feels Like Betrayal

Pakistani audiences have supported these stars wholeheartedly, from their television dramas to their cinematic milestones. But the very communities that helped raise their careers are now being left behind when support is needed most.

It’s not about demanding political commentary. It’s about expecting basic decency, empathy, and courage. When celebrities speak out about makeup brands, travel photos, concerts, and trailers, their refusal to comment on a major social crisis cannot be dismissed as “staying neutral.”

Their silence is not apolitical. It is a choice. A calculated one.

Whose Side Are You Really On?

There is a clear pattern: South Asian celebrities love to embrace their Muslim identity for cultural roles, songs, and sentimental storytelling — but when real-world consequences hit that identity, they vanish.

This is not just hypocritical. It is dangerous.

Because by choosing not to challenge the false and dangerous narrative, they are allowing it to flourish.

To Our Celebrities: Don’t Just Entertain, Represent

Celebrities like Fawad Khan and Hania Aamir are adored not just for their talent, but for the pride they bring to Pakistan. That pride, however, comes with responsibility.

They must understand: their silence carries weight. And in times like this, it feels like abandonment.

It is not too late to speak up. But every passing day of silence makes the cost heavier.

To Fawad, Hania, and others walking the tightrope of cross-border fame: your success is respected, your art is celebrated, but your silence is disappointing.

If you cannot speak now — when the very core of your identity is under attack — then when will you?
