The recent military escalation between India and Pakistan has drawn sharp criticism from the international community. President Donald Trump labeled the rising tensions as “a shame,” expressing hope for a swift resolution to the conflict. He emphasized that the situation should end quickly, highlighting the urgency of de-escalation.
In addition to President Trump’s remarks, other world leaders have also voiced their concerns. UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for maximum military restraint, stating that “the world cannot afford a military confrontation between India and Pakistan.” He urged both nations to avoid actions that could further complicate the situation.
China expressed regret over India’s military operation, urging both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson called for calm, restraint, and the avoidance of actions that might escalate the situation.
The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the intensifying military conflict between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack near Pahalgam, stating, “We are deeply concerned over the escalation of the situation.”
Russia firmly condemns all acts of terrorism and opposes every form of its manifestation. The ministry emphasized the need for united efforts from the international community to effectively combat this global threat.
“We urge both parties to exercise restraint to avoid further deterioration of the situation in the region. We hope that the ongoing differences between New Delhi and Islamabad can be resolved through peaceful diplomatic means, in line with the Simla Agreement of 1972 and the Lahore Declaration of 1999,” the statement continued.
It is important to note that India carried out attacks in various locations, including Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Ahmedpur Sharqia Bagh, and Muridke. The Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) asserted that the “cowardly” act would not go unpunished.
These reactions underscore the global concern over the potential for further escalation between the two nuclear-armed nations. The international community continues to call for dialogue and peaceful resolution to prevent a broader conflict.
